Saab to provide remote air traffic control for Stockholm-Västerås Airport

Saab has been awarded a 15-year contract to install and operate remote air traffic control services for Stockholm-Västerås Airport. This agreement will see air traffic in Västerås managed from Saab's Remote Tower Center (RTC) located in Sundsvall.

The remote tower technology is already in operational use at several airports and represents a significant step in the ongoing technological development within the aviation industry, both in Sweden and internationally. Stockholm-Västerås Airport will become the fifth airport to be operated from Saab's RTC in Sundsvall, joining Sundsvall-Timrå, Sälen, and Örnsköldsvik.

This digitalization effort aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety by centralizing air traffic management. Saab's remote tower solutions are part of a broader industry trend towards adopting advanced technologies to optimize airport operations and resource allocation.
