SafeSport Offers Free Training for International Safe Sport Day

The U.S. Center for SafeSport announced it will offer its SafeSport® Trained Core online course at no cost to a limited number of people across the United States. This initiative aims to recognize International Safe Sport Day and increase awareness and education regarding abuse and misconduct within the sports community.

The training focuses on identifying and reporting instances of abuse and providing individuals with the tools to create a safer environment for athletes. The course normally costs $75 to access. While completion is voluntary, it is recommended for all individuals involved in sports.

The Center for SafeSport was established in 2017 in response to concerns about sexual abuse and harassment within sports. It operates as an independent organization, providing training, resources, and support to sports organizations and individual athletes.

The timing of the free training campaign highlights the significance of International Safe Sport Day, observed annually on the first Wednesday of August. The day aims to promote safer practices and environments within the global sports landscape.
