Safran Helicopter Engines opens new German maintenance hub in Norderstedt

French company Safran Helicopter Engines Germany GmbH has officially inaugurated its new German headquarters in Norderstedt, Schleswig-Holstein. The company, which designs and manufactures helicopter engines, including for the German armed forces, has relocated its operations from its previous Hamburg location to the new site, constructed over the past two years.

The Norderstedt facility will initially employ 70 people. The primary focus will be on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of helicopter engines. The company supplies engines for various helicopter models, and the expansion in Norderstedt is intended to enhance service for regional clients.

Safran Helicopter Engines is part of the global Safran group, a technology leader in aerospace and defense. The group reported a worldwide turnover exceeding 31 billion euros last year, with the German subsidiary generating nine million euros. Norderstedt's mayor, Katrin Schmieder, highlighted the establishment of this international corporation as a significant contributor of jobs and economic vitality to the city.
