Sage b7 ERP modernized with AI and new architecture

Sage has updated its Sage b7 enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with a new architecture and artificial intelligence capabilities. The enhancements are targeted at mid-sized manufacturing and trading companies, offering more flexible and efficient data processing. The new version combines the Sage Copilot AI assistant, expanded REST interfaces, and a Java migration.

The system's modernization aims to meet the demands of constantly changing markets. Sage b7's technology migration to Java environments and support for new database standards promise improved performance and reduced maintenance costs. The company has ensured that previous customer-specific customizations are preserved during the update.

Key new features include the transition of the application core to Java 25, replacing older scripting languages. The system now also supports the PostgreSQL database alongside Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server. The API interfaces have been expanded to cover more functionalities, such as print settings and user data, with specifications to be published in OpenAPI/YAML format to facilitate partner integrations.

Sage b7 is evolving from a pure management software into an active control instrument. The Sage Copilot AI assistant enables data retrieval and process initiation using natural language, speeding up information access and enhancing the utilization of employee expertise. Companies also benefit from predictable update paths that minimize downtime.
