Sage Report Details Impact on European SMEs and Digital Economy

Sage has released a report detailing its economic, social, and environmental impact across key European markets, including the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, and Ireland. The analysis, conducted in collaboration with KREAB, examines Sage's role in SME digitalization, employment, and tax compliance.

The report, titled "Enabling Europe to thrive in a digital economy," utilizes fiscal year 2023 data. Findings indicate that Sage directly and indirectly supports 3.2 million SMEs, significantly bolstering the European economy. The company's extensive network of over 42,000 partners contributes to a robust European technology ecosystem.

Sage's software solutions reportedly enable SMEs to achieve average annual operational cost reductions of €23,500 and substantial efficiency gains. This contribution amounts to an estimated €18 billion towards European economic competitiveness. Furthermore, Sage processes €2.4 trillion in taxes annually, either directly or through its partners, influencing public revenue.

The company's broader economic influence is highlighted by its multiplier effect: for every euro generated directly by Sage, an additional €2.5 in economic activity is created across Europe, considering direct, indirect, and induced effects. Beyond economic contributions, Sage employees dedicated over 80,500 hours to volunteering in 2023, double the European corporate average. Environmental initiatives have also led to a 30% reduction in Sage's Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions since 2019.
