Sage shifts AI focus toward operational outcomes and data transparency

Sage is increasingly focusing on the practical application of AI, moving away from high-level industry hype. According to CTO Aaron Harris, the priority for businesses should be identifying agentic systems that address specific operational challenges rather than pursuing broad, ill-defined technological implementations.

To ensure trust in automated outputs, the company is promoting a "Glass Box" approach to AI. This strategy is designed to make the reasoning behind AI-generated decisions visible and traceable, allowing finance professionals to validate results independently. The company recently demonstrated this concept by translating financial datasets into musical compositions, intended to show how patterns shape data-driven outcomes.

In tandem with its software strategy, Sage has acquired Paperless Environments to bolster its construction sector offerings. By integrating document workflow and accounts payable automation into its existing platforms, the company aims to reduce manual administrative tasks for construction projects. The move aligns with a broader effort to provide integrated tools that connect field operations with financial oversight.
