SaltX and Groupe Pigeon finalize feasibility study for electric lime production
SaltX Technology and Groupe Pigeon have concluded a feasibility study for an electrified quicklime plant, targeting a 40,000-tonne annual output with construction slated for 2028.

SaltX Technology and Groupe Pigeon have confirmed the successful completion of a feasibility study for a commercial-scale electrified lime production facility. The partnership aims to decarbonize lime manufacturing by replacing traditional fossil fuel-based heating with renewable electricity.
The planned facility is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes of quicklime. The project is scheduled for construction in 2028 and will be developed in collaboration with thyssenkrupp Calvion.
The site selection prioritizes access to renewable energy and infrastructure capable of managing carbon capture, utilization, and storage. This initiative reflects a broader industry shift toward low-carbon construction materials as manufacturers face increasing pressure to meet environmental regulatory standards.
