Samfara acquires Danish API manufacturer Chr. Olesen Synthesis

Samfara, a European investment firm focused on life sciences, has finalized the acquisition of Chr. Olesen Synthesis, a Danish manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The deal, supported by a consortium of European and North American institutional investors and family offices, represents Samfara's first investment.

Chr. Olesen Synthesis, based near Copenhagen, develops and produces advanced APIs and intermediates. The company specializes in controlled substances, including those used for opioid use disorder (buprenorphine) and ADHD (lisdexamfetamine). Its cGMP-certified production facility, operational since 2015, serves pharmaceutical companies across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

With Samfara's backing, Chr. Olesen Synthesis plans to expand its capabilities and customer base into new markets. Jean-François Hilaire, formerly CEO of Unither and Executive Vice President at Recipharm, who advised Samfara on the acquisition, will join Chr. Olesen Synthesis' board as chairman.

Samfara stated the acquisition aligns with its strategy of identifying and supporting promising companies in complex market niches. Chr. Olesen Synthesis holds a solid position and reputation within a demanding segment of the pharmaceutical market.
