Samjung Introduces Lightweight Steel Production Board MetaBoard
South Korean manufacturer Samjung has launched MetaBoard, a lightweight steel production board designed to reduce steel usage and weight. The board utilizes material technology and structural design.
Samjung, a specialized manufacturer of steel production boards based in Pohang, South Korea, has introduced its new MetaBoard. The company states that the board uses material technology and structural design to reduce steel usage and achieve approximately 60–70% of the weight of conventional steel production boards.
Production boards are essential components in the manufacturing of concrete blocks and pavers, supporting products during forming and withstanding repeated vibration and loads. Samjung, with over 30 years of experience in this field, developed MetaBoard by moving beyond traditional methods that relied solely on material quantity for rigidity and durability.
The MetaBoard's design approach focuses on applying appropriate materials in areas requiring higher performance and using structural design to reduce unnecessary steel. This allows for significant weight reduction while maintaining functionality and compatibility with existing production environments, as it can be manufactured to the same thickness as conventional boards.
The lightweight design offers potential benefits in production and logistics. For concrete product manufacturers that use large quantities of boards, the total weight reduction can lead to improved handling, transportation efficiency, and reduced costs. Samjung describes MetaBoard as a holistic approach to design, considering production performance, economic efficiency, and material efficiency together.
