Samsung and Max Telecom Expand 4G Mobile WiMAX Network in Bulgaria
Max Telecom has selected Samsung Electronics as its sole vendor for 4G Mobile WiMAX solutions in Bulgaria. The network is planned to achieve nationwide coverage by the end of 2012.

Samsung Electronics is supplying 4G Mobile WiMAX technology to Max Telecom, a next-generation telecommunications operator in Bulgaria, aiming to introduce an advanced mobile internet service to the country.
Max Telecom plans to upgrade its commercial Mobile WiMAX service with Samsung's solutions by the end of 2010. The operator intends to expand the network's coverage to encompass Bulgaria's entire population of 7.6 million by 2012, with the goal of offering richer mobile data services and high-quality VoIP.
Samsung will provide its latest Mobile WiMAX solution, including U-RAS Smart base stations and related systems, along with network support services. The company states that the solutions are cost-effective and energy-efficient, supporting a smooth transition from Mobile WiMAX to WiMAX 2.
Samsung is a significant player in the Mobile WiMAX sector, having delivered its proven equipment to 57 Mobile WiMAX operators in 35 countries, including major players in the US, Japan, and Malaysia. Globally, Samsung's 4G Mobile WiMAX networks currently reach 200 million people.
