Samsung and SK leaders to attend private Google CEO summit

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won are set to attend Google's annual private CEO gathering, known as "Google Camp," on the island of Sicily. This event brings together influential figures from the global business and technology sectors. Lee Jae-yong has been a regular attendee since 2022, while this marks Choi Tae-won's first participation.

The summit is taking place at the Rocco Forte Verdura Golf Resort in southwestern Sicily. Details regarding attendees and discussion topics are kept confidential. The event was initiated in 2013 by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Both South Korean executives missed the 2023 gathering due to their involvement in trade negotiations between South Korea and the United States.

Industry observers anticipate that discussions between the executives and leaders from global tech giants like Google will revolve around collaboration in AI infrastructure. Key topics are likely to include AI chips, data centers, and the growing demand for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) driven by AI servers, as well as the development of next-generation HBM products.

Both leaders recently attended an AI summit in San Francisco, where they met with prominent tech industry figures. Lee Jae-yong held meetings with the CEOs of Nvidia, OpenAI, and Broadcom. Choi Tae-won outlined SK Group's cooperation plans with Nvidia concerning AI data centers and next-generation HBM. These gatherings are part of ongoing efforts by both executives to strengthen partnerships with major global technology companies.
