Samsung and SPH Enter Strategic Partnership

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Samsung Electronics Singapore have established a strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of innovative technologies and marketing campaigns. The agreement seeks to provide mutual benefits for the customers of both organizations.

The two companies formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in Singapore in January 2018, with an initial duration of two years. The MOU was signed by SPH CEO Ng Yat Chung and Samsung Electronics Singapore President Lee Jui Siang.

Under the terms of the agreement, SPH's digital media products will be pre-loaded onto Samsung devices, including smartphones, tablets, and Smart TVs. Samsung users will also gain access to trial subscriptions for SPH's media offerings. In parallel, SPH intends to integrate Samsung's payment gateway, Samsung Pay, across its business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) platforms.

The partnership also encompasses exploring emerging technologies, such as virtual reality, to engage younger demographics. SPH will leverage its multi-platform media solutions and data analytics capabilities to assist Samsung in customer acquisition and engagement. Joint marketing initiatives and cross-selling opportunities will also be pursued by both entities.
