Samsung Display to Exit China Market, Channel Liquidation Underway
Samsung Display has entered the final phase of channel liquidation in the Chinese market, with the process expected to conclude by the end of November.
Samsung Display has officially commenced the final stage of channel liquidation in the Chinese market, signaling its withdrawal from the region. The process is currently underway and is anticipated to be completed by the end of November 2026.
Distributors and system integrators that previously handled Samsung Display products have ceased receiving inventory. The company is presently conducting final inventory counts and plans to offer compensation to these channels based on their stock levels.
This move is part of a broader decision by Samsung to discontinue the sale of all home appliance products, including televisions and monitors, in mainland China. While specific reasons for the display business cessation are unclear, it is understood to be connected to the earlier exit of other home appliance categories. Samsung's mobile phone business in China will continue unaffected.
Samsung, which entered the Chinese market in 1992, has seen its market share in home appliances shrink due to increasing competition from domestic brands. The company's television business once held nearly 20% of the market share in China in 2005.
