Employees at Samsung Electronics are preparing for a demonstration organized by a union representing staff in the DX (Device Experience) division, which handles consumer electronics, TVs, and smartphones. The protest is a response to perceived inequities in bonus structures, particularly concerning compensation for 2026.

Reports indicate that employees in the DX division are expected to receive stock bonuses valued at approximately 6 million South Korean won (around $4,300 USD) for 2026. In stark contrast, employees in the semiconductor division may receive bonuses as high as 600 million South Korean won (around $430,000 USD), highlighting a disparity of up to 100 times.

The union, with a membership of about 28,000, plans to hold the rally near Samsung Electronics' headquarters in Suwon on July 16. Union officials stated the gathering aims to voice concerns over the "unreasonable neglect of the DX department" during this year's salary negotiations.

Approximately 2,000 to 3,000 members are expected to participate in the demonstration. This action follows previous internal disputes over compensation packages within Samsung Electronics, suggesting ongoing tensions regarding pay equity across the company's diverse business units.
