Samsung Electronics' Galaxy AI features have successfully completed registration for generative artificial intelligence services in China. According to a report by Daily Science and Technology, Baidu Smart Cloud is identified as a significant partner for the Galaxy AI service in the region.
The Cyberspace Administration of China, along with other relevant departments, recently released a list of approved generative AI services for mobile devices. Samsung's Galaxy AI was included on this list, alongside services from other major manufacturers such as Apple, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
Sources familiar with the matter state that Baidu Smart Cloud has been instrumental in enabling Galaxy AI for the Chinese market. Samsung China and Baidu Smart Cloud formed a strategic partnership in January 2024. Baidu's Wenxin large language model reportedly powers several Galaxy AI features, including "Circle to Search" and note-taking assistance, integrated into Samsung's flagship smartphones.
The approval signifies Samsung's adherence to China's regulatory framework for AI services and aims to bolster its competitive standing in the smartphone sector, where AI capabilities are increasingly a deciding factor for consumers.
