The incident occurred while the phone was not in use, when it suddenly ignited and exploded. As the man attempted to remove it from his pocket, he sustained injuries. Images shared on social media show significant damage to the device, with the battery compartment nearly destroyed and about half of the back cover melted.
The specific model of the phone has not been disclosed, but visual comparisons to the camera layout suggest it resembles a Galaxy S26. This incident follows previous reports of battery issues with Galaxy devices, prompting scrutiny over their safety.
A separate incident is also reported in Qingdao, China, where a Samsung Galaxy S25+ phone caught fire during charging on July 31. The phone began emitting smoke and made a loud noise while connected to a charger as the user prepared for bed.
