Samsung has unveiled its latest vertically folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip8. The device retains the stylish and compact design of its predecessor while introducing significant upgrades in performance, AI capabilities, and software experience. Samsung states this is its lightest foldable smartphone to date.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by the Exynos 2600 processor, the first smartphone chip manufactured using a 2-nanometer process. Samsung reports that the new chip offers over 30% improvement in CPU performance and approximately 50% in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. The phone comes with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB and 512GB.

Weighing just 180 grams, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is 8 grams lighter than the previous model. Its dimensions when folded are 75.4×85.7×13.1 mm, and when unfolded, 75.4×166.9×6.1 mm. The device also boasts an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.

The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, with a 10-megapixel front-facing camera on the internal display. All cameras support 4K 60fps Super HDR video recording. A new Camcorder Grip feature allows users to hold the folded phone like a traditional camcorder, enhancing shooting comfort and stability for videos. The Steady Shot mode now includes Horizontal Lock to maintain a level horizon even when the phone is rotated.

An external 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display features a 948×1048 resolution and a peak brightness of 2600 nits. The internal 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X foldable display offers a 1080×2520 resolution and an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, also reaching 2600 nits peak brightness. Samsung has also worked to reduce the visibility of the crease and improve the screen's feel. The device runs One UI 9.0 based on Android 17, with Samsung promising seven years of OS updates.

The battery capacity is 4300mAh with 25W wired charging. Samsung has incorporated silicon-carbon battery technology to minimize weight. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, though it lacks Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support. The 256GB model is priced at 8,999 yuan, and the 512GB model at 10,599 yuan. Available colors are Strawberry Pink, Rock Gray, and Cloud White, with a Mint Green variant exclusive to Samsung's online store.
