Samsung's latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold8, is experiencing higher-than-anticipated demand in its pre-order phase. The company has reportedly placed additional orders with its suppliers to meet this surge in consumer interest.

The Galaxy Z Fold8, launched in late July, represents Samsung's first significant redesign of its foldable phone form factor in six years. The device features a shorter and wider body compared to previous iterations, aiming to enhance the media consumption and entertainment experience. It was released with a starting price of 12,999 yuan (approximately $1,800 USD).

The phone boasts a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable main display. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, supporting HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG standards.

Photography is handled by a dual rear camera system, featuring a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization (f/1.8) and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor (f/1.9). Two 10-megapixel front-facing cameras are integrated, one on the cover screen and one on the main display. All cameras support 4K 60fps HDR video recording, with the rear system capable of 8K 30fps video.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 for Galaxy processor. Memory configurations include 12GB RAM for 256GB and 512GB storage models, and 16GB RAM for the 1TB top-tier version.
