Samsung Launches First AI Glasses, Galaxy Glasses
Samsung unveiled its first AI glasses, the Galaxy Glasses, powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip. The devices offer extended battery life and integrate with Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung officially launched its first AI-powered smart glasses, the Galaxy Glasses, at its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 summer event. The eyewear was developed in collaboration with global eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, building on concepts introduced at Google I/O.
The Galaxy Glasses utilize the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip and integrate with Google's Gemini AI assistant, enabling features like real-time translation, navigation, and message summarization. While lacking a display, the glasses provide audio-based AI assistance. An integrated camera can capture the wearer's view and send it directly to Samsung Notes or share it live during calls.
The device boasts a battery life of up to 9 hours on a single charge. Users can control the glasses via touch-sensitive frames or gestures, with enhanced gesture control requiring a paired Galaxy Watch 9. Samsung is offering the glasses in two distinct frame styles, blending technology with fashion.
Running on the Android XR system, the AI capabilities are designed to help users focus on key information, such as summarizing lengthy messages and facilitating context-aware assistance, while reducing repetitive manual input.
