Samsung Negotiates High Prices for 2027 HBM4 Memory
Samsung Electronics is in price negotiations with key clients for its 2027 HBM4 memory supply contracts. The company is reportedly seeking unit prices significantly higher than current HBM3E offerings.
Samsung Electronics is currently engaged in price negotiations with its major clients for supply contracts of High Bandwidth Memory 4 (HBM4), slated for delivery in 2027. Reports indicate the South Korean tech giant is aiming for unit prices in the higher range of $4 to $5 per gigabit.
This anticipated pricing represents a substantial increase compared to the current market rate for HBM3E memory, which stands at approximately $1.5 per gigabit. Industry observers expect the HBM4 contract prices for 2027 to potentially exceed three times the current HBM3E prices.
Supply agreements and pricing for HBM memory are typically finalized through annual negotiations. Samsung has reportedly secured a significant portion of its orders for 2027, with final price discussions expected to conclude this month.
The demand for HBM, crucial for advanced AI and high-performance computing, continues to drive market dynamics. The higher bandwidth and performance of these memory types are essential for accelerating complex computational tasks.
