Samsung Reportedly Planning Humanoid Robot Debut at CES 2027

Samsung Electronics is reportedly entering the humanoid robot sector, accelerating the development of a prototype with plans for a public debut at CES 2027 in Las Vegas next January. The move signals the tech giant's intent to compete in the burgeoning field of advanced robotics.

According to industry sources, the robot development is spearheaded by the RX division under Samsung's DX (Device eXperience) unit. The company aims to leverage advancements in artificial intelligence to speed up the commercialization of humanoid robots, a market segment expected to grow significantly.

Janghyun Yoon, CTO and President of Samsung's DX division, is overseeing both the hardware and AI software development teams for the robot project. This dual leadership role, managing the physical mechanics and the AI 'brain' simultaneously, is considered an unusual but strategic approach within the industry.

The company believes that integrating hardware and software development under a single leadership from the outset is key to compressing the development cycle. This strategy is seen as essential to keep pace with the rapid, exponential advancements in AI technology, which traditional, segmented development models might struggle to match.

To support its ambitions, Samsung has reportedly secured several core patents related to humanoid robotics. These include technologies for hip joint design, high-dexterity robotic hands, and AI-driven motion control systems, positioning the company to advance its capabilities in the field.
