Samsung has provided a historical overview of its Galaxy Z Fold series of foldable smartphones, focusing on technological advancements that have improved their durability. The company detailed the journey from its early foldable designs to the current generation.
Key among these advancements is the introduction of Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) starting with the Galaxy Z Flip in 2020, which replaced previous polymer (CPI) cover materials. UTG technology reportedly offers a superior touch experience and increased resilience.
Furthermore, Samsung highlighted the achievement of IPX8 water resistance in its foldable phones. This rating allows devices to withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes, though it does not cover saltwater or chemically treated liquids.
