Samsung SDI Secures 1GWh Energy Storage Supply Deal with Alpha Omega Power

Samsung SDI will supply 1GWh of battery storage systems to Alpha Omega Power, with deliveries scheduled to commence by the end of the year.

26 October 2026

Samsung SDI has signed a supply agreement to provide 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of energy storage system (ESS) solutions to U.S.-based Alpha Omega Power. This latest contract brings the total commitment between the two companies to 1.5 GWh.

The SBB 1.7 battery units will be manufactured at the StarPlus Energy plant in Indiana, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis. Delivery of the systems is set to be completed by the end of 2026.

The supplied systems utilize high-nickel NCA (nickel-cobalt-aluminum) chemistry, offering a 17% increase in energy capacity within the same physical footprint compared to the previous SBB 1.5 model. The units feature AI-driven monitoring for lifespan prediction and are designed to comply with U.S. safety standards, including NFPA 855 and UL 9540.

This agreement marks a significant step for Samsung SDI as it scales its operations in the North American utility-scale energy storage market, a sector currently experiencing high demand for reliable, high-capacity grid storage solutions.
