Samsung SDS and LG CNS expand AI data center operations in Asia
South Korean IT services firms Samsung SDS and LG CNS are ramping up AI-focused data center projects in South Korea and Indonesia to meet rising demand for computing power.

Samsung SDS and LG CNS are scaling their infrastructure investments to capitalize on the increasing demand for AI-driven data processing. Samsung SDS has commenced construction on a new facility in Gumi, South Korea, with an expected completion date by the end of 2028. The site is designed to start with 60 megawatts of power, with the capability to scale to 120 megawatts based on future demand requirements.
In Indonesia, LG CNS has finalized a 30-megawatt AI data center in Jakarta. The company confirmed that all capacity for the facility was secured by clients prior to its completion. Plans are already in place for subsequent expansion phases to reach a total capacity of 400 megawatts, signaling a long-term commitment to the Indonesian market.
Both companies are shifting their business models from pure data center construction to the provision of active AI infrastructure and specialized IT services. Samsung SDS intends to focus on colocation services at its Gumi location, while LG CNS is exploring further growth opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region. These developments align with broader industry trends showing sustained growth in data center investment across South Korea and Indonesia.
