Samsung targets Apple display durability in Canadian marketing campaign
Samsung has launched a campaign in Canada highlighting screen durability, following reports of display defects in Apple's iPhone Duo.
Samsung has deployed mobile billboards in Toronto and Vancouver featuring cracked screens, part of a campaign encouraging consumers to switch to the Galaxy Z Fold series. The effort, which began on October 29 on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, emphasizes Samsung’s historical experience with folding display technology.
The marketing push comes as users report hardware failures with the Apple iPhone Duo, including cracking and display lines near the hinge. Apple has acknowledged that a subset of devices is experiencing internal screen issues and has directed affected users to AppleCare, though the company has not disclosed failure rates or the root cause of the defects.
Industry observers suggest the move carries reputational risk for Samsung, given the company's own challenges with the initial Galaxy Fold launch in 2019. While the campaign attempts to capitalize on a competitor's technical struggles, its long-term effectiveness remains tied to how quickly Apple can resolve its product quality issues.
