Samsung Teases New Wide-Aspect Ratio Foldable Phone
Samsung has begun teasing a new foldable phone form factor through a social media video, with speculation centering on the Galaxy Z Fold8. The device will reportedly feature a custom Snapdragon chipset.

Samsung has initiated the reveal of a new foldable phone form factor through a brief video posted on social media. While the model is not directly named, the announcement is widely expected to refer to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8, rumored to feature a wider, "wide-fold" design.
The device will be powered by a "Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy" chip, a customized version of Qualcomm's flagship processor. Such exclusive chipset collaborations are a common practice for Samsung.
The new phone's form factor is hinted at in the official video, with its aspect ratio aligning with previously leaked details for the Galaxy Z Fold8. Social media commenters have also speculated on the device's wide-folding design.
Previous reports suggest the Galaxy Z Fold8 would measure 4.5mm thin when unfolded and 9.7mm when folded, weighing 201 grams. Its 7.6-inch inner display and 5.5-inch outer display align with the wider aspect ratio predictions. The launch is anticipated for late July.
