Samsung to debut AI eyewear in South Korea and US
Samsung is preparing to launch its first pair of AI-integrated smart glasses in mid-December, targeting the South Korean and US markets.
Samsung plans to enter the wearable AI market in mid-December with the release of its first pair of smart glasses in South Korea and the United States. According to reports from TrendForce, the company will use this initial rollout to assess consumer demand and product reception before deciding on a broader international release.
The device, expected to be marketed as "Intelligent Eyewear," will operate on Google’s Android XR platform and integrate Samsung’s Gemini AI. Lacking a physical display, the glasses rely on voice commands, microphones, and cameras to facilitate tasks such as real-time language translation, navigation, and document scanning. The hardware is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and offers a battery life of up to nine hours.
Samsung has partnered with brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for the industrial design. The launch places Samsung in direct competition with established players like Meta and Xreal, the latter of which recently introduced its own Android XR glasses. The market remains highly competitive as companies struggle to define the standard for consumer-grade AI wearables.
