Samsung has announced its third-generation Galaxy SmartTag 3 Bluetooth tracker, featuring a smaller form factor and extended battery life. The device incorporates new tracking capabilities and software enhancements, including cross-platform support intended to simplify sharing location data with others.
The SmartTag 3 adopts a squircle design, similar to its predecessor but notably lacks a built-in keyring hole. This necessitates the purchase of a protective case for direct attachment to keys or bags. The tracker is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance.
Utilizing Bluetooth and Samsung's extensive SmartThings Find network of Galaxy devices, the SmartTag 3 can help locate items even when out of direct Bluetooth range. The device also includes NFC functionality, allowing a finder to send a message or contact details to the owner upon tapping the tracker.
Samsung states the improved battery longevity extends the device's usability, while the new software features aim to provide a more intuitive user experience. The company highlights the device's interoperability, positioning the SmartTag as a versatile tool for managing personal belongings.
