SanDisk Partners with Meta for Dedicated VR Storage Products
SanDisk announced a partnership with Meta to provide a range of "Made For Meta" exclusive storage products, including microSD Express cards and USB-C flash drives, for Meta's VR headsets.
SanDisk, a company specializing in storage solutions, has entered into a collaboration with Meta, a leader in virtual reality technology. This partnership will see SanDisk supplying specially designed storage products for Meta's VR hardware, including the Quest series and upcoming VR Glasses headsets.
The product lineup will feature "Made For Meta" branded microSD Express cards and USB-C flash drives. SanDisk indicated that these accessories are slated for release in Spring 2027, coinciding with the launch of the Meta VR Glasses headset. Specific details regarding the capacity and pricing of these storage solutions have not yet been disclosed.
The Meta VR Glasses headset will come with 128GB of internal storage and a dedicated slot for microSD card expansion. This feature is a new addition to Meta's VR device offerings and is expected to provide users with a more affordable method for increasing storage capacity, particularly in light of current storage market prices.
Meta is also enhancing the functionality of its Horizon OS operating system to better support external storage devices. Recent updates allow users to browse and manage files directly through the system's file application, simplifying the integration of external storage for VR users.
