Sanofi acquires mRNA-based research platform from Tidal Therapeutics
Sanofi has acquired Tidal Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on mRNA-based cell reprogramming, expanding its research into oncology and inflammatory diseases.

Sanofi has acquired Tidal Therapeutics, a privately held, pre-clinical stage biotechnology company developing a novel messenger RNA (mRNA) based approach for in vivo reprogramming of immune cells.
The acquisition is expected to enhance Sanofi's research capabilities in immuno-oncology and inflammatory diseases, with potential applications in other disease areas. The financial terms of the deal included an upfront payment and potential milestone payments.
Tidal Therapeutics' proprietary technology utilizes nanoparticles to deliver mRNA to reprogram immune cells within the body. This in vivo method aims to achieve efficacy comparable to existing ex vivo approaches (where cells are modified outside the body), with potential benefits such as improved safety and the possibility of repeat dosing.
Prior to the acquisition, Tidal Therapeutics focused on pre-clinical programs targeting cancer indications by reprogramming T cells and other immune cells. Sanofi anticipates this platform will accelerate the development of novel therapeutics across various disease areas.
