Sanofi and IGM Biosciences Collaborate on Oncology and Immunology Targets
Sanofi and IGM Biosciences have signed a collaboration agreement focused on developing IgM antibody therapeutics for oncology, immunology, and inflammation. IGM will receive a $150 million upfront payment and potential future milestone payments exceeding $6 billion.

French pharmaceutical company Sanofi and U.S.-based IGM Biosciences have announced a global collaboration agreement to create, develop, manufacture, and commercialize new therapeutics. The partnership will focus on six distinct targets: three for oncology and three for immunology and inflammation.
This collaboration will leverage IGM Biosciences' proprietary IgM antibody technology platform. This technology is designed to create multi-valent IgM antibodies, which possess ten binding sites compared to the two sites found in conventional IgG antibodies. The aim is to develop novel therapeutics with enhanced capabilities in stimulating cell surface receptors.
Under the terms of the agreement, IGM Biosciences will receive an upfront payment of $150 million. Furthermore, IGM is eligible to receive over $6 billion in potential development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments, contingent upon the success of the programs. Sanofi will assume responsibility for later-stage development and commercialization activities for the programs.
Sanofi aims to bolster its research and development pipeline with innovative technologies. This collaboration with IGM Biosciences represents a strategic move to expand its portfolio with novel approaches to treating serious diseases. The agreement builds upon an existing research collaboration between the two companies.
