Sanofi and Teva to Co-Develop Inflammatory Bowel Disease Treatment
Sanofi and Teva Pharmaceuticals have entered into a collaboration to jointly develop and commercialize TEV’574, a treatment candidate for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) currently in Phase 2b clinical trials.
Sanofi and Teva Pharmaceuticals have announced a comprehensive collaboration agreement to co-develop and co-commercialize TEV’574, a therapeutic candidate for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The treatment is currently undergoing Phase 2b clinical trials and is being investigated for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Under the terms of the agreement, Teva will receive an upfront payment of €469 million ($500 million) and up to €940 million ($1 billion) in development and launch milestones. The companies will share global development costs and net profits equally in major markets, with royalty arrangements for other territories. Sanofi will lead the development of the Phase 3 program.
Teva will lead commercialization efforts in Europe, Israel, and specified other countries, while Sanofi will lead commercialization in North America, Japan, other parts of Asia, and the rest of the world. Initial program results are anticipated in 2024. Inflammatory bowel diseases affect an estimated 10 million people worldwide.
The partnership aligns with Sanofi's immunology strategy to explore novel mechanisms of action for chronic inflammatory conditions. It combines the research, development, and commercial expertise of both companies to potentially advance treatment options for IBD patients.
