Sanofi completes acquisition of drug candidate DR-0201
Sanofi has finalized the acquisition of the bispecific myeloid cell engager DR-0201 from Dren Bio for an upfront payment of $600 million.

Sanofi has completed its acquisition of DR-0201 from clinical-stage biotechnology company Dren Bio. The deal involves an upfront payment of $600 million, with potential future payments of up to $1.3 billion contingent upon clinical development and commercial milestones.
Now designated as SAR448501, the drug candidate is a bispecific myeloid cell engager designed to induce B-cell depletion through targeted phagocytosis. The therapeutic approach is being studied for its potential to reset the adaptive immune system in patients with refractory B-cell mediated autoimmune diseases, including lupus.
Industry interest in deep B-cell depletion has grown as researchers look for ways to achieve sustained treatment-free remission in autoimmune conditions. While Sanofi integrates this asset into its immunology pipeline, Dren Bio will continue to operate as an independent entity focused on its existing antibody development programs.
