Pharmaceutical company Sanofi has announced a strong start to 2025, reporting a 9.7% increase in sales and business earnings per share (EPS) of €1.79 for the first quarter. The company reaffirmed its financial guidance for the full year.
Total sales rose by 9.7% at constant exchange rates (CER) compared to the same period last year. Sales from new drug launches reached €0.8 billion, a 43.8% increase, driven by products like ALTUVIIIO. Dupixent sales continued their strong trajectory, reaching €3.5 billion, up 20.3%. Vaccine sales were €1.3 billion, an 11.4% increase, primarily due to the favorable phasing of Beyfortus.
Research and development expenses stood at €1.8 billion, while selling, general, and administrative expenses amounted to €2.2 billion. Business EPS grew to €1.79, a 15.7% increase at CER, reflecting operational performance.
Sanofi achieved significant pipeline progress in the first quarter, securing six regulatory approvals for medicines in areas including immunology and rare diseases. The company is also advancing its early-stage pipeline through acquisitions and progress in clinical trials for asthma and skin disease treatments.
Looking ahead, Sanofi anticipates mid-to-high single-digit sales growth at CER for 2025. The company confirmed expectations for a strong rebound in business EPS, projecting low double-digit growth. A planned €5 billion share buyback program is progressing, with 72% of the total amount already repurchased.
