Sanofi, Dren Bio Advance Immune-Mediated Disease Therapies

Paris – Pharmaceutical company Sanofi has deepened its strategic partnership with biotechnology firm Dren Bio to advance next-generation therapies for immune-mediated diseases. The collaboration, expanded in 2025, leverages Dren Bio's myeloid cell engager technology with Sanofi's extensive immunology and development capabilities.

The joint effort aims to explore new approaches to rebalancing the immune system. Moving beyond traditional broad immune suppression for disease control, the research seeks to target disease-causing cells more selectively. The companies believe this could offer significant advantages for patients suffering from chronic autoimmune conditions.

Dren Bio, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, focuses on developing targeted therapies that utilize the body's own immune mechanisms to eliminate disease-causing cells. Alyssa Johnsen, Global Therapeutic Area Head of Immunology and Inflammation Development at Sanofi, and Nenad Tomasevic, Founder and CEO of Dren Bio, emphasize that complex scientific advancements require combining diverse expertise.

Research is progressing through B-cell biology, myeloid cell engagement, and strategic partnerships. The collaboration aims to harness natural biological processes, such as the phagocytosis capabilities of myeloid cells, to selectively remove harmful cells while maintaining the immune system's normal balance. This approach may offer novel avenues for immune modulation.
