Sanofi: Dupixent Significantly Reduces Itch and Skin Lesions in Prurigo Nodularis Trial
Sanofi's Dupixent (dupilumab) has demonstrated significant reductions in itch and skin lesions in a Phase 3 trial for prurigo nodularis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease.

PARIS and TARRYTOWN, N.Y. โ October 22, 2021 โ Sanofi announced that its drug Dupixent (dupilumab) met primary and key secondary endpoints in a pivotal Phase 3 trial for adults with uncontrolled prurigo nodularis. This chronic type 2 inflammatory skin disease is characterized by intense itch and skin lesions.
The trial showed that Dupixent significantly reduced itch and skin lesions compared to placebo. At 24 weeks, nearly three times as many patients treated with Dupixent experienced reductions in both itch and skin lesions.
These findings support the role of targeting IL-4 and IL-13, key drivers of type 2 inflammation, in addressing the symptoms of prurigo nodularis. The debilitating nature of the disease significantly impacts patients' quality of life.
This marks the sixth disease in which Dupixent has shown efficacy in Phase 3 trials, further reinforcing its established safety profile. The lack of approved systemic treatments for prurigo nodularis makes these results particularly significant for patients.
