Paris – December 7, 2023 – Pharmaceutical company Sanofi announced today, during an investor event in New York, a transformation of its research and development strategy to accelerate growth.
The company is focusing on 12 new molecular entities with blockbuster potential. Nine of these are new medicines and vaccines estimated to achieve peak sales between €2 to €5 billion. Three additional assets, described as 'pipeline-in-a-product' candidates, have a potential peak sales expectation of over €5 billion each.
Sanofi plans to increase the number of Phase 3 clinical trials by 50% between 2023 and 2025. The company anticipates approximately 25 mid- to late-stage readouts and up to 19 regulatory submissions for its pharmaceutical assets over the next two years. Sanofi's ambition is to become a leader in immunology, with its medicines projected to generate over €10 billion in annual sales by 2030, in addition to the strong growth from Dupixent and vaccines.
Among the selected pipeline assets are amlitelimab and frexalimab, which hold potential for treating multiple indications. The company expressed confidence in its ability to improve patient outcomes and reinforce its leadership in immunology and neuroinflammation.
