Sanofi presented new Phase 3 results for amlitelimab, an investigational monoclonal antibody targeting OX40-ligand (OX40L), for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. The data were presented at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meeting in Denver, Colorado.

The three Phase 3 studies, COAST 1, COAST 2, and SHORE, evaluated amlitelimab administered either once every four weeks or once every 12 weeks, in adult and adolescent patients aged 12 years and older. The studies showed progressive improvement in skin clearance and disease severity compared to placebo, with no plateau observed by week 24.

"The totality of the data presented at AAD reinforces the progressive increase in efficacy observed with amlitelimab over time and the potential for a once-every-12-week starting regimen," said Houman Ashrafian, Executive Vice President, Head of Research and Development at Sanofi. "These data contribute to the growing evidence for amlitelimab's potential to be a significant option for patients with atopic dermatitis."

Amlitelimab was generally well-tolerated in these studies. The drug's mechanism of action, which targets OX40L without depleting T cells, is designed to modulate the immune response contributing to atopic dermatitis. The potential for less frequent dosing could offer a benefit to patients managing this chronic condition.
