Sanofi presented new clinical data at the American Thoracic Society (ATS) International Conference, focusing on its drug candidates for respiratory diseases. The company specifically highlighted the potential of Dupixent® (dupilumab) in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the development of new potential asthma medications, including rilzabrutinib and lunsekimig.

Late-breaking data from the NOTUS and BOREAS Phase 3 studies support Dupixent's role as a potential first-in-class biologic treatment for certain adult patients with uncontrolled COPD presenting with type 2 inflammation. These studies demonstrated a significant reduction in COPD exacerbations and improvements in lung function.

The company also presented new findings from the BOREAS study evaluating the role of biomarkers in predicting treatment responses. Additionally, Phase 2b data for rilzabrutinib in asthma were presented for the first time. Rilzabrutinib is a novel oral BTK inhibitor forming the basis for a Phase 3 program.

Sanofi's presentations at the conference, featuring 25 abstracts of approved and investigational medicines, underscore the company's commitment to advancing treatments for inflammatory respiratory conditions. Naimish Patel, Global Head of Development, Immunology and Inflammation at Sanofi, stated that the results deepen the understanding of type 2 inflammation's role in COPD and Dupixent's potential as the first biologic therapy for this condition.
