Sanofi reported significant growth in its first-quarter 2022 financial results, with overall sales rising 8.6% at constant exchange rates (CER) to €9.67 billion. The company's business earnings per share (EPS) also saw a substantial increase, growing 16.1% at CER to €1.94.

The robust performance was largely attributed to the strong sales momentum of Dupixent®, which increased by 45.7%, and a 17.0% rise in the consumer healthcare (CHC) segment. Specialty Care as a whole grew 17.8%, indicating broad strength across key therapeutic areas.

The company also noted an improvement in its business operating income (BOI) margin, which reached 31.7%, up 1.0 percentage point. This was achieved through higher gross margins while continuing to invest in research and development (R&D).

Sanofi highlighted progress in its R&D pipeline, including positive Phase 3 results for efanesoctocog alfa for hemophilia A and new regulatory approvals and submissions for Dupixent® in various pediatric indications and other conditions. The company reiterated its financial outlook, expecting business EPS to grow in the low double-digits at CER for the full year, barring unforeseen events.
