Sanofi Updates Strategy, Plans Consumer Healthcare Separation
Sanofi announced a new phase in its "Play to Win" strategy, increasing R&D investments and planning to separate its Consumer Healthcare business. The company aims to realize its pipeline potential and drive long-term growth.

Paris – Pharmaceutical company Sanofi has outlined a new chapter for its "Play to Win" strategy, marked by increased investment in research and development (R&D) and the intention to separate its Consumer Healthcare business.
The company plans to boost R&D spending to fully leverage its pipeline's potential and ensure long-term growth. Concurrently, Sanofi is launching strategic cost-saving initiatives, with most of the savings earmarked for reinvestment in innovation and growth drivers. The company targets savings of up to €2 billion between 2024 and the end of 2025.
Sanofi intends to spin off its Consumer Healthcare division by creating a publicly listed entity, expected to occur no earlier than the fourth quarter of 2024, headquartered in France. This separation aims to allow greater management focus and resource allocation towards the biopharma business, where the company identifies significant value-creation opportunities.
The company reaffirmed its 2023 financial guidance and provided a preliminary outlook for 2024 and 2025. CEO Paul Hudson stated the move toward becoming a pure-play biopharma company and optimizing its cost structure will accelerate innovation and strengthen long-term profitability.
