Santa Monica Studio postpones God of War Laufey release to May
Santa Monica Studio has rescheduled the launch of God of War Laufey from February to May 20, 2027, citing a need for additional development time.

Santa Monica Studio announced today that the release of its upcoming title, God of War Laufey, has been pushed back. The game, originally scheduled for a February 16 release on PlayStation 5, will now debut on May 20, 2027.
In a statement, the developer indicated that the additional three months are necessary to meet quality expectations for the title. The game, first revealed in June, centers on the character Faye and her journey through a setting described as the Everywhen.
Video game delays have become increasingly common as developers face mounting pressure to deliver stable, high-performance titles at launch. By extending the development cycle, Santa Monica Studio aims to address potential technical gaps before the game reaches consumers.
