Sarvam AI, an Indian artificial intelligence startup that achieved unicorn status in June, is broadening its strategic focus. The company announced its ambition to become a comprehensive AI solutions provider for the Indian market, offering everything from foundation models and infrastructure to coding copilots and enterprise applications.
This expansion signifies a shift from solely building Indian-language foundation models. At its inaugural developer conference, Sarvam AI outlined its vision for constructing a complete AI stack. The offering now extends beyond software to potentially include hardware, such as smart glasses.
According to the company, future offerings will encompass base models, infrastructure solutions, and applications for speech, vision, coding, cybersecurity, and defense. The Sarvam Inference platform allows businesses to utilize AI models on infrastructure hosted within India, ensuring data sovereignty.
Sarvam AI is also focusing on competitive pricing, reliability, and data security to challenge global players like OpenAI and Google. The company's objective is to persuade Indian businesses to transition from their current international AI solutions and adopt Sarvam's offerings for their complete AI requirements.
