SAS and Turkish Airlines commence code-share partnership
Aviation groups SAS and Turkish Airlines have initiated a code-share agreement, providing Scandinavian travelers enhanced access to six Turkish destinations.
Scandinavian airline SAS and its Star Alliance partner Turkish Airlines have entered into a code-share agreement, effective April 17, 2013. This collaboration aims to offer SAS customers easier access to six destinations within Turkey.
Under the new agreement, SAS customers can book flights operated by Turkish Airlines using an SK flight code. These flights will depart from various Scandinavian airports, including Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Aalborg, and Billund, with connections to Istanbul and further onward to destinations such as Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, and Izmir.
Turkish Airlines will also place its flight code on over 20 SAS-operated destinations across Scandinavia and Finland. Passengers will be able to earn EuroBonus points on all Turkish Airlines flights, as both carriers are members of the Star Alliance network. SAS noted that tourism and trade between Scandinavia and Turkey have seen double-digit growth in recent years.
The expanded route network will be supported by Turkish Airlines' existing flight schedules, which include nearly 80 weekly flights between Istanbul and Scandinavia/Finland. This partnership is expected to cater to the growing travel demand between the regions.
