SAS Expands Summer 2026 Program with New Routes and Increased Capacity

SAS announced on September 22, 2025, a substantial expansion of its summer 2026 flight program, adding nine new routes and six new destinations. This expansion, covering Europe, North America, and Asia, aims to reinforce Copenhagen's position as Scandinavia's global hub.

The airline is increasing its total seat capacity from Copenhagen by 20 percent, which is expected to result in a 50 percent increase in connecting opportunities. SAS stated that the summer 2026 program is its most extensive ever, offering travelers more destinations and improved connections. The schedule balances high-frequency business routes with leisure travel options.

According to the company, this expansion builds on its operational performance. SAS has been recognized as Europe's and the world's most punctual airline for several months across various rankings. CEO Anko van der Werff highlighted that the expansion includes the addition of two Airbus A350 aircraft, enhancing customer choice and flexibility.

Several routes that were previously seasonal, such as Copenhagen–Ålesund, Copenhagen–Edinburgh, and Copenhagen–Thessaloniki, will now operate throughout the entire summer season. Additionally, more than 30 existing routes will see increased frequencies. Copenhagen, in particular, will benefit from more departures on over 25 routes, including services to Seoul and Tokyo.

The summer 2026 program will be available for booking starting September 22, 2025. New routes include Copenhagen–Mumbai and Copenhagen–Istanbul. SAS is also increasing frequencies on routes from Stockholm and Oslo.
