SAS launches direct flights to Zagreb
On March 31, 2008, SAS commenced direct flights between Stockholm and Zagreb. The airline is expanding its Croatian offerings with this new route and additional services to Split.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) launched direct flights between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Zagreb, Croatia, on March 31, 2008. The route will operate with departures on Monday and Friday afternoons, with an additional Wednesday service starting April 30.
SAS Sverige is reinforcing its position as the largest operator of direct flights from Sweden to Croatia with this expansion. The company had previously announced the start of a Stockholm-Split route on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and a Gothenburg-Split service commencing June 7.
Susanne Dahlberg, Head of Commercial at SAS Sverige, stated that the new routes are part of the airline's ongoing European expansion. She noted that the Croatian destinations reflect increased interest in flights to the country for both holiday and business purposes.
Dario Matosevic, Head of the Croatian Tourist Board in Stockholm, commented that a direct flight between Stockholm and Zagreb had been anticipated for over ten years. He believes the new service will create new travel possibilities, including group and incentive trips, cultural and sports travel, and business ventures, anticipating a further increase in travel between Sweden and Croatia.
