SAS Named Sweden's Most Sustainable Airline
SAS has been voted the most sustainable airline in Sweden for the 13th year in a row by consumers, according to the Sustainable Brand Index. The airline has focused on fleet modernization and sustainable fuels.
For the 13th time in 13 years, SAS has been recognized as Sweden's most sustainable airline by consumers in the annual Sustainable Brand Index survey. The award reflects consumer perceptions of the company's environmental efforts.
SAS has been investing in newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft since 2017, resulting in one of Europe's most modern fleets. The company is also involved in initiatives to accelerate the production of sustainable aviation fuels and support the development of electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft.
"It is very gratifying to receive confirmation that our hard work, ongoing for decades, is noticed by Swedish consumers," said Ann-Sofie Hörlin, Head of Sustainability at SAS. "Our ambition is to be a driving force in the transition of the aviation industry, with a goal of net-zero emissions."
The Sustainable Brand Index is Europe's largest independent sustainability-focused brand study, surveying 29,000 consumers on 418 Swedish brands concerning their alignment with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. SAS has held the top position in its category in 11 out of the 13 survey years.
