SAS Officially Joins SkyTeam Airline Alliance

Scandinavian airline SAS officially joined the global SkyTeam airline alliance on September 1, 2024. The change marks a significant milestone for the carrier as it transitions from Star Alliance.

By joining SkyTeam, SAS customers gain access to over 1,060 destinations worldwide. The alliance enhances SAS's network, particularly in regions such as Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. SAS has already initiated codeshare agreements with Air France-KLM, with further cooperation with other SkyTeam members planned.

SAS's loyal EuroBonus customers will see immediate benefits. They can now earn and redeem points on most SkyTeam flights. Top-tier members (Gold and Diamond) will receive access to SkyPriority services and lounges globally. SAS Silver members will be recognized as SkyTeam Elite, and Gold and Diamond members will achieve SkyTeam Elite Plus status.

With SAS's inclusion, SkyTeam becomes the only airline alliance to serve both the world's southernmost and northernmost commercial airports: Ushuaia in Argentina and Svalbard in Norway. This expands the alliance's reach and improves connectivity through the Scandinavian hubs of Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo.
