SAS Opens Expanded Museum at Oslo Airport
SAS has opened a new, significantly expanded museum at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. The museum showcases the history of Scandinavian civil aviation, including SAS and its predecessor companies.

Airline SAS has inaugurated a new, substantially expanded museum located at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. The museum's collections focus on the history of Scandinavian civil aviation, encompassing SAS as well as its parent companies: Sweden's AB Aerotransport (ABA), Denmark's Det Danske Luftfartselskab (DDL), and Norway's Det Norske Luftfartselskap (DNL).
The museum's origins trace back to 1989, when an initial facility was established at Oslo's Fornebu airport through the efforts of enthusiasts among retired and active SAS employees. The current museum, which opened in 2003-2004, signifies SAS's commitment to documenting the evolution of Scandinavian air travel.
SAS partners with three national historical societies for the museum's operation. These societies manage the day-to-day activities on a voluntary basis. SAS provides financial support by covering rental costs and maintaining depots for museum exhibits in Denmark and Sweden.
The museum operates under a board that includes representatives from the SAS consortium and the historical societies, ensuring the continued preservation and development of Scandinavian aviation heritage.
