SAS simplifies checked baggage rules
SAS has introduced new baggage regulations allowing customers to include one piece of special baggage, such as golf clubs or skis, at no additional cost.
Airline SAS has announced a significant simplification of its baggage policy, aiming to make travel easier for its customers. The new rules, effective immediately, allow passengers to include one piece of special baggage, such as golf clubs or skis, without an extra charge, provided it does not exceed the 23 kg weight limit.
SAS emphasizes that at least one checked bag is always included in the ticket price. The revised concept removes previous size and shape limitations for special baggage, with the 23 kg weight limit (32 kg in Business Class) being the primary criterion, subject to aircraft space availability. The company states this change is in response to customer feedback seeking the simplest baggage pricing model in the industry.
Furthermore, SAS has substantially reduced prices for additional baggage when purchased online or through airport self-service machines. These reduced prices vary by route category, offering discounts for domestic, European, and intercontinental travel.
SAS also highlighted adjustments to its loyalty program benefits. EuroBonus Diamond and Gold members will now receive two extra checked bags included, while Silver members will receive one extra bag. Separate pricing applies to baggage requiring manual handling, such as live animals and firearms.
